Wu Haijun, Chairman of Shenzhen Hasee Computer Co., a Chinese manufacturer of desktops, Mini-PCs, and laptops, has stated that the next-generation GeForce RTX 50 graphics cards in the popular X60 laptop segment will consume less power. This information was shared during a media briefing and reported by Golden Pig Upgrade.

It was noted that the GeForce RTX XX60 model from NVIDIA’s upcoming laptop series will require 115W of power, which is lower than the 140W needed for the RTX 40 series. Additionally, the Chairman mentioned that this new series will utilize GDDR7 memory.

It’s important to note that this statement isn’t entirely unexpected, as the initial specifications for the new RTX 50 Blackwell laptop SKUs were previously leaked through a Clevo presentation (shown below). The document revealed that the maximum Total Graphics Power (TGP) will be reduced for four out of the six planned models.

The GN22-X11 and X9 SKUs are anticipated to have a 175W TGP, which is the same as the current generation, codenamed GN21. However, the X7, X6, X4, and X2 SKUs are expected to be limited to 115W, down from the previous 140W. Notably, the X7 is a new model that wasn’t part of the GN21 series, indicating that there will be additional SKUs in the upcoming generation as well.

A key point to consider is that the maximum TGP won’t apply to all laptops. This value specifically reflects what NVIDIA used to market as the Max-P variant, representing the highest performance spec for a particular SKU. However, models with TGP limited to lower values (previously known as Max-Q) remain popular among laptop manufacturers.

The RTX 5060 model will still have a 128-bit memory bus, which suggests that it will likely feature 8GB of GDDR7 memory. The mobile RTX 50 series is expected to utilize the GB203, GB205, GB206, and GB207 GPUs. However, NVIDIA is also developing the GB202 GPU, which has a 512-bit memory bus, though it’s unlikely this GPU will be used in laptops.

NVIDIA is expected to launch its RTX 50 laptop GPU series next year, likely timed to coincide with the release of Intel’s Core Ultra 200H “Arrow Lake” processors.
